Don’t Forget Pets Diabetes Month

It seems that November is a busy month for raising Awareness about Diabetes. The International Diabetes Federation is celebrating World Diabetes Day AND right now it’s also Pet Diabetes Month. Diabetes in Pets has become a very common disease and to raise awareness Intervet has declared November Pet Diabetes Month.
Here are some quick Pet Diabetes Facts:
- One in 580 dogs develops diabetes
- One in 200 cats develops diabetes
- Typically Dogs develop Type 1 Diabetes and Cats develop Type 2 Diabetes
During November, if your pet is having a wellness check up, your Vet may ask about changes in urination and thirst, in an effort to detect diabetes in the early stages.
